Hasitha Samarakoon is a highly experienced and versatile musician with over 37 years of
experience in the music industry. As the main drummer in DOWNTOWN, he also excels in vocal
percussion and bass. Hasitha holds the prestigious Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL)
qualification, showcasing his advanced proficiency in music. Throughout his career, he has
played alongside some of Sri Lanka’s top musicians and was a former member of the UAE's
award-winning Sri Lankan band, Damage.
Known for his remarkable Shaggy impersonation, Hasitha also masterfully covers iconic artists
such as Lionel Richie, Bob Marley, UB40, Inner Circle, Big Mountain, and more. His talent and
professionalism shine through every performance, making him an integral part of the band's
dynamic sound.
